AND a valid U.S. Driver's License. ~~ Read more about the Census 2010 and job opportunities: How?s this for good timing? Americans need jobs and the U.S. Census Bureau needs people?lots of them. For many Americans, our nation?s economic challenges have become a very personal matter. Many are unemployed, and many others have a real need for some additional income to get through these tough times. Fortunately, right now there is a huge need for hundreds of thousands of Americans to go to work. It?s time to conduct the 2010 Census, and the U.S. Census Bureau will be hiring over one million people for temporary, part-time positions in the spring of 2010. These temporary, part-time positions offer good pay and flexible hours, and you will mostly work in your own community. It?s probably the best temporary, part-time job to come along in 10 years! In addition to weekly pay at the rate of $18/hour, Census Takers also receive paid training and reimbursement for authorized work-related expenses such as mileage. Census jobs are not only a great opportunity for people who are looking for work or who have other daytime responsibilities, but also a great source of extra income for those with full-time day jobs. Short-term 2010 Census jobs are ideal for those seeking temporary, part-time work, retirees, college students, recent graduates, stay-at-home parents, those seeking a second job to earn extra cash in the evenings and weekends. Those collecting Unemployment may accept a job with the 2010 Census without giving up their Benefits. 2010 Census job applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number, and be able to pass a background check and take a 30-minute, multiple-choice basic employment test that measures knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform a variety of census jobs. In most cases, workers will also be required to possess a valid driver's license and have use of a vehicle. U.S. citizenship is required to apply for census jobs, except in areas where a bilingual ability is necessary. However, non-citizens will be hired for these positions if there are no qualified U.S. citizens available. _________________________________________________________________ Your E-mail and More On-the-Go. Last year, after bringing two heavily intoxicated patients to the Emergency Room within 10 minutes of each other, an ER nurse asked a Hatzolah member, "When are they closing the bar at this party?" The ?bar? should close before it opens for many! There are boys who drink on Purim strictly because of the obligation to drink ?ad d?lo yoda,? until one cannot distinguish between cursing Haman and blessing Mordechai. Unfortunately, many of these boys go way beyond and don?t understand how even a little bit of alcohol can affect their minds and motor skills. We are looking for any items which are new or like new (does not need to be in the original packaging) and/or could have a value of at least $25. Look through your closets, storage areas, basement, attic, etc and let us know what you want to get rid of, you would be helping out the shul a lot while clearing up some clutter before Pesach. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The Shul has the practice of dividing the majority of the funds for Matanos Le'evyonim between "Aniyei Ircha" - the needy in our community, and "Aniyei Eretz Yisrael" - the poor in Israel. We have a long affiliation with Hand in Hand, which distributes within the community, and Od Yosef Chai, which distributes in Eretz Yisrael. Other individuals and organizations receive smaller portions of the funds. One can either make out checks directly to the above-mentioned organizations, or one may make out a check to "Tifereth Israel Rabbi's Fund", which will be divided amongst the various recipients. Please deliver the checks to Rabbi Cohen before Purim and indicate clearly that it is for "Matanos Le'evyonim". The Rambam writes that it is preferable to invest more in Matanos Le'evyonim than Mishloach Manos and one's Seudah, for the greatest joy is realized by enabling the needy to rejoice, and in this fashion, one emulates G-d Himself (Hilchos Megillah 2:17). Matanos Le'evyonim is both a weighty responsibility and a special opportunity. Purim Sameach! Rabbi Cohen -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <55706F863BEA4CCDAA25F6FCB1A0027B@LevinFamily> The Eruv is down and cannot be fixed before Shabbos. Therefore, one may not carry anything on Shabbos - including keys, tissues, gloves, etc. Everyone should check their pockets before Shabbos and any other time that one is leaving the house on Shabbos to make certain that one does not accidentally carry. Strollers cannot be used, and one should not take little children (who sometimes have to be carried) to Shul. This may complicate the efforts of women who try to hear Parshas Zachor in Shul. Women can rely upon the many Halachic authorities who say that women fulfill this Mitzva by reading Parshas Zachor (Sefer Devarim 25:17-19) from a Chumash at home. While this is unexpected and inconvenient, it is also a reminder and opportunity for us to renew our commitment to careful observance of the Halachos of Shabbos. If anyone has a question, please call me at home (973-591-6876). Gut Shabbos and a Freilechen Purim! Rabbi Cohen -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
