Rabbi Cooper is a noted educator, scholar, and author. He attended Yeshivat Shaalavim, and served in the Golani Brigade in the Hesder program.

Among other accomplishments, he serves as a Rabbi in Zur Hadassa; teaches in the Pardes Institute; leads Heritage Seminars to Poland, specializing in Hasidism and the Holocaust; has written a doctoral dissertation on the Munkatcher Rebbe, Rabbi Chaim Elazar Shapira, the "Minchas Elazar"; has written regular columns in the Jerusalem Post on the relevance of Talmudic passages to our times and Hasidic lore; is an educational advisor to the Jewish Community of Instanbul, Turkey; and is the founder and spiritual guide for "Lavi", a National Religious elementary school.
