Dear Passaic/Clifton Residents,
Based on a very good meeting that was held last night with Councilman Gary
Schaer, Councilman Daniel Schwartz and key representatives from the Passaic
Police department, Sunday's 'Town Hall' meeting that is taking place at Beis
Shalom located at 733 Passaic Ave. (near Allwood Road) is going to be
focused on home security and crime prevention with a very brief update on
current efforts by all involved. Please note that a formal 'Town Hall'
meeting will take place shortly afterwards once last night's plan has been
formally implemented as we need to give the police time to continue to
implement their plan.
In last night's meeting, we learned the details on the newly instituted and
extremely thorough plan the Passaic Police department has recently
undertaken to address the increased burglaries in the Passaic area. We
solidified the details of how we can best work together help deter, prevent,
and stop crime in our community. Thus, we will need a few days to more
fully develop our gameplan such that we will experience short and long-term
success. We will send out a notice as to when the meeting will be held.
Additionally, based on information we learned in the meeting, I want to
apologize for incorrectly stating how the recent burglaries have been
targeted to the greater Passaic/Clifton Jewish community. However, rest
assured, the Passaic Police department is doing more than can be expected to
address these aforementioned issues. Although we have the greatest level of
confidence that the current problems will be quickly rectified, we must
continue to be mindful on the importance of continuous education and
training for long-term security. If you want to be involved in this, please
fill out the questionnaire located at the following link:
