Hello,

This past Sunday night, May 9th, the Passaic / Clifton community held an
informal Town Hall meeting to communicate steps being taken to combat
the recent burglaries in the community and to provide safety tips to
prevent future occurrences.

Here are some highlights of the event:

1. An organization called Volunteer Guardians of Passaic/Clifton has
been started and is working diligently with the Passaic Police
Department and elected officials to coordinate a Citizens on Patrol
Community Watch initiative which is patrolling the streets of our
community from late event to early morning to enhance the already
increased police presence in our area. Over 50 people have already
volunteered to join the patrol and more volunteers are welcome and
needed. Joshua Schwager has stepped up to lead this organization by
bringing together Ezriel Munk, who headed up the previous community
watch, the local Rabbonim, elected officials and the Passaic Police
Department. You can reach Joshua at Joshua at GuardiansPC.com

2. The Volunteer Guardians of Passaic/Clifton will also be sending
safety and security e-mail communications and phone updates to the
community, and will host educational safety seminars. Avi Turkel will be
coordinating these communications. If you have any questions, you can
contact Avi at Avi at GuardiansPC.com.

3. The Passaic Police Department has quadrupled coverage in the area
with both marked and unmarked cars. They are stopping any person or
vehicle that look suspicious and are inspecting parked vehicles looking
for anything suspicious. Thus, please note that cars with expired
inspection stickers are more likely to be noticed so please keep them
up-to-date or expect to receive a ticket.

4. The group is also in discussions with the Clifton Police to
coordinate the same watch program and hopes to have something
operational shortly.

5. A police officer from a different jurisdiction with experience in
Home Security provided the attendees with 24 safety tips that the
community should follow to keep our homes safe. That list will be made
available to the community shortly. The seminar will also be repeated
in the near future. Details are forthcoming.

6. The community was reminded to report any suspicious activity by
calling the police. In Passaic, call 973-365-3938 between 9am and 1am
and 973-365-3900 between 1am and 9am, in Clifton call 973-470-5911. In
case of an emergency, dial 911 at all times.

The Volunteer Guardians of Passaic-Clifton would like to take this
opportunity to thank George Matyjewicz for his exceptional work in
coordinating communication up to this point. It is clearly an example of
a successful grass roots effort. Unfortunately, due to his work with
Hatzolah of Passaic/Clifton EMS he is no longer able to continue with
communication.

Going forward, please contact Avi Turkel (Avi at GuardiansPC.com) with any
communications concerns or Joshua Schwager (Joshua at GuardiansPC.com) with
any other questions.

Thank you and stay safe,

Volunteer Guardians of Passaic-Clifton
