class="style2"><big>'ברוך ה </big>Simchas Torah is almost upon us! We
look forward to a fun, enjoyable chag at the Tif with you and your
family. It is the minhag ha'olam to receive an aliyah on this momentous
yom tov. The shul would like to remind parents of boys ages 9 to 12
that your sons are also allowed to be called to the Torah to receive
individual aliyos after hakofos on Simchas Torah day. There are few
greater joys
for the young men of the household than being allowed to participate in
the mitzvah of Aliya LaTorah. Parents may also bask in the nachas of
watching their little ones take their next steps towards being a bar
mitzvah.</span></font></p>
<p class="style2" align="left"><font
face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">The Rav and the shul invite
parents to participate in this wonderful tradition. In anticipation of
this event, we invite boys, ages 9 to 12, to learn how to recite the
Birchas HaTorah with the traditional Yomim Nora'im niggun (tune.) <u>Our
esteemed Baal Koreh, Yitz Weiss, will be conducting a class on
Shabbos-Shemini Atzeres at 5:15 (45 minutes before mincha) in the Davy
Streit Boardroom downstairs at the Tif in teaching the boys the proper
decorum and niggun</u>. Rabbi Cohen will also be addressing the boys
briefly on the importance of and proper kavana for this mitzvah.
Fathers
are invited to bring their eligible sons to this session to prepare for
an aliyah on the following day. Boys younger than 9 are also welcome to
come and learn, although shul policy is for them not to have aliyos.
(Bar Mitzvah boys of all ages may also attend.) Refreshments will be
served.</font> </p>
